Balearic Marine Cluster has launched the presentation tour of the Marinas Azules<\/strong> project, a technical and environmental feasibility study proposing an innovative system for self-sufficient and circular desalination<\/strong> to supply fresh water to nautical facilities across the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n

The findings are going to be shared with marinas and shipyards including Alcudiamar Marina Resort<\/strong>, Astilleros de Mallorca<\/strong>, Marina Cala Gamba<\/strong>, Port Adriano<\/strong>, Marina Port de Mallorca<\/strong>, and Marina Santa Eulalia<\/strong>. In the coming days, meetings are also scheduled with Marina Ibiza<\/strong>, as well as institutional stakeholders from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB)<\/strong>, ANADE<\/strong>, FANMED<\/strong>, Ports de Balears<\/strong>, the Association of Nautical Clubs of the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, and the ADR Balears<\/strong>, among other key players in the Balearic nautical ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The project, funded by the AETIB \u2013 Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency<\/strong>, is designed to assess the implementation of a system based on solar-powered desalination units<\/strong> capable of meeting 100% of each facility’s freshwater needs without increasing its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

A scalable, sustainable solution for the blue economy<\/h2>\n

The reports prepared for each marina, thanks to Garau Ingenieros<\/strong>, confirm the technical viability of the model<\/strong>, regardless of the type of facility \u2014from shipyards to marinas of various sizes\u2014, reinforcing the scalability and adaptability of the proposed system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This approach not only enables energy self-sufficiency<\/strong> but also offers a real, replicable solution<\/strong> to the freshwater challenges faced by island territories like the Balearics, where responsible water use is a pressing priority.<\/p>\n

A shared commitment to a more responsible yachting sector<\/h2>\n

The Marinas Azules project forms part of the cluster\u2019s strategy to promote the green transition of the yachting industry<\/strong> and has received active support from numerous public and private entities<\/strong>, all of which have shown strong interest in implementing circular and sustainable solutions at their facilities.<\/p>\n
