BMC Agrees with SOIB and CRN to Create a Specialized Training Program to Boost Employment in the Nautical Sector
Balearic Marine Cluster, in collaboration with the National Nautical Reference Center (CRN) and under the supervision of SOIB, continues to advance its commitment to developing talent in the nautical sector. As part of this effort, 8 new training specializations have been created to promote professionalization and specialization in key areas of the industry.
The newly created training specializations are:
- Sailmaking and repair.
- Basic operations in sailmaking and repair.
- Upholstery, canvas, and protective textiles making.
- Basic operations in upholstery, canvas, and protective textiles making.
- Boat painting.
- Basic operations in boat painting.
- Basic operations in boat carpentry.
- Basic operations in electromechanics applied to recreational boats.
These new specializations address the need to equip students with practical and updated skills aligned with the real demands of the nautical sector, enhancing their employment opportunities in a growing market.
In parallel, and as part of the modernization of the training offer, the cluster has also updated and validated other essential specializations, adapting them to the current needs of the sector:
- Wooden boat construction.
- Naval electrical installation for small vessels.
- Hand lamination in polyester for aquaculture and shipbuilding components.
- Sailmaking and rigging.
- Basic mechanics of small vessel engines.
- Mechanics of machinery installations on smaller vessels.
These initiatives combine the creation of new programs with the updating of existing ones, ensuring a modern and industry-adapted educational offering.
The ultimate goal is to provide students with the necessary competencies to successfully integrate into the nautical sector while reinforcing the growth and competitiveness of the industrial fabric in the Balearic Islands.
