The initiative has enabled participants to establish new contacts, explore collaboration opportunities and strengthen the presence of the Balearic Islands within the international superyacht industry ecosystem.

Oceanco Visit

During the first week of June, Balearic Marine Cluster led a trade mission to the Netherlands involving representatives from 14 member companies, with the aim of creating new international opportunities, strengthening strategic relationships and connecting the Balearic nautical ecosystem with some of the most influential players in the global superyacht industry.

The initiative brought together representatives from Arrival Yachts, BWA Yachting, Club de Mar, Evolution Yacht Agents, Heavy Seas, Infe Proyectos, IPM Group, J2 Sailing, JJ Covers, Lantimar, Nautipaints, Ocean Capital/IGY, OmniAccess and Pinmar, alongside the Balearic Marine Cluster team.

Over four days, the delegation visited internationally renowned organisations and companies including SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association), Feadship, Oceanco, Vitters Shipyard, Balk Shipyard and Akerboom Yacht Equipment, meeting with senior executives and representatives from some of the industry’s most influential organisations.

Beyond the technical visits, the mission provided participating companies with the opportunity to expand their international networks, identify potential partnerships and gain first-hand insight into emerging trends, management approaches and business opportunities within one of the world’s most advanced yachting ecosystems.

Another step forward in the internationalisation of the Balearic nautical sector

The trade mission forms part of a broader internationalisation programme led by Balearic Marine Cluster, which includes future initiatives in other strategic European yachting markets such as Italy, Germany and Turkey.

The objective is to help member companies access new markets, develop valuable business relationships and strengthen the international competitiveness of the Balearic maritime industry.

Strengthening ties with SYBAss

One of the mission’s key milestones was the strengthening of institutional relations between Balearic Marine Cluster and SYBAss, the organisation representing the world’s leading superyacht builders.

During the meeting, both organisations exchanged views on the industry’s current challenges and opportunities, while exploring potential avenues for future collaboration in areas such as industry promotion, knowledge sharing and the development of joint initiatives.

This relationship builds on the existing collaboration surrounding World Boating Day, an initiative promoted by SYBAss in which Balearic Marine Cluster participated this year through the organisation of Balearic Boating Day, held across different locations in the Balearic Islands during May.

Raising the international profile of the Balearic Islands

The mission also served to strengthen Balearic Marine Cluster’s international presence and reinforce the position of the Balearic Islands as one of Europe’s leading hubs for superyacht services, maintenance and refit activities.

In recent years, the cluster has increased its participation in major international industry forums and has promoted initiatives such as the Mediterranean Superyacht Forum, which has become a meeting point for professionals, companies and industry leaders from across the international yachting community.

Pedro Suasi, Manager of Balearic Marine Cluster, highlighted that:

“A few years ago, it would have been unthinkable for a business delegation from the Balearic Islands to gain direct access to some of the world’s leading centres of decision-making and yacht construction. Today, we are seeing our companies welcomed as valuable industry partners, building relationships that can translate into real opportunities for the sector.”

He added:

“This mission is only the first step in a broader internationalisation programme through which we aim to continue connecting our member companies with the leading markets and organisations within the global yachting industry.”

Through initiatives such as this, Balearic Marine Cluster continues to strengthen its role as a platform connecting the Balearic Islands with the global maritime industry, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange and international growth opportunities for its member companies.
