The first commercial mission outside Europe organized by the Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC) involved seven member companies, consolidating the Balearic Islands as a market with great potential in the Middle Eastern nautical sector

This February, Balearic Marine Cluster carried out its first commercial mission to Dubai, coinciding with the Dubai International Boat Show, held from February 19 to 23. Thanks to this initiative, BMC and its delegation of seven companies succeeded in positioning the Balearic Islands as a key destination for the Arabian nautical sector, opening new business opportunities in the region.

Pedro Suasi described the experience as “very positive for both the cluster and the participating companies.” “Considering this was our first edition, we believe it was a success. It allowed us to establish strategic connections and reinforce the image of the Balearic Islands as a premium Mediterranean destination,” he emphasized. Suasi also stressed that “commercial missions like this are essential in the internationalization process of companies, a key objective of BMC to boost the competitiveness of the Balearic nautical sector.”

The member companies that participated in the mission were: Balearic Fastener, Hamilton Marine, Heavy Seas, Lantimar, Nautipaints, Phoenix One, and Soft Interior. During the visit, participants not only toured the fair but also had the opportunity to visit some of the most exclusive marinas in the region, such as Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, Marsa Al Arab Marina in Dubai, and Dubai Harbour.

For Marta Spreafico, Operations Manager at Lantimar, this commercial mission was “an exceptional opportunity to generate new synergies and explore interesting collaborations.” “The trip to Dubai allowed me to connect with experts in the nautical industry and exchange different perspectives, thus expanding our vision of the Middle Eastern market,” she said.

Spreafico also highlighted that “the Middle East has become a key market for the superyacht industry, attracting demanding clients with a penchant for luxury and the best sailing experience.” “This fair represents a unique opportunity to understand an expanding market where the focus is not so much on the passion for sailing, but on leisure and offshore enjoyment. It is a destination with a different offer, but equally attractive and with enormous potential.”
