The Balearic Nautical Cluster association celebrated yesterday, September 19th, the presentation of its new Technical Office service at the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca.
Since its establishment as an Innovative Business Group last May, Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC) has been steadfast in its goal of supporting companies in the sector in a priority area such as innovation.
This fact becomes evident in the launch of this new service, as explained by Mr. Toni Salom, president of the association, during the opening of the event.
The welcome address was also given by Mr. Antonio Carmona, Secretary for Innovation and Digital Society, who praised the prominent role of BMC as the first cluster to offer this service to its members. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of clustering to drive innovation and promote the growth of companies.
The different services of the Technical Office and its operation were presented by Mr. Pedro Suasi, the cluster’s manager.
The objective of this service is to provide support to companies in the sector in various areas, such as quality, innovation, sustainability, and government procedures, including the application for grants and subsidies.
Currently, the office offers a total of 15 services and has a Pool of Providers, composed of 10 highly qualified consulting firms, in which Balearic Marine Cluster will outsource part of the services requested by companies if they require it, after receiving primary assistance from the association itself.
All these services and providers can be consulted through the Balearic Marine Cluster website, another new launch that Suasi did not hesitate to present during his speech.
The program of the day included two roundtable discussions in which 6 of the 10 companies that make up the pool of providers of the Technical Office participated.
The first roundtable, titled “Success Stories Related to Innovation,” was moderated by Mr. Toni Viader from Auren Consultants and featured the participation of Mr. Bartolomé Arrom from ClarkeModet, Mr. Roberto Orts Cuevas from Herrero & Asociados, and Mr. Felipe López de Zabala; they discussed topics such as the importance of patents and trademark registration.
The second and final roundtable, moderated by Ms. Lucía Mingot from Astilleros de Mallorca, was titled “Environmental Regulations and Trends.” Ms. Susana Doménech from Grupo Daphnia, Ms. Pilar Ramírez from Site 5, and Mr. Toni Viader from Auren Consultants discussed sustainability reports by companies and their obligations regarding administrations.
The event’s closing was carried out by Mr. Omar Beidas, Head of the DG Innovation Service, and the final words were given by the cluster’s president, Mr. Toni Salom, who, after thanking both speakers and attendees, invited those present to enjoy a refreshment.
More than 40 people attended the presentation, several of whom were associates of Balearic Marine Cluster, who applauded the initiative and stated that this service will be of great use in propelling the sector towards the forefront of innovation.
Furthermore, the active participation and attendance of representatives from the administration demonstrate the strong relationship and collaboration between the Administration and Balearic Marine Cluster, as they join efforts to promote the growth of the business fabric of our islands.
