Successful turnout at “Building Talent”, a forum organised by Balearic Marine Cluster alongside CliQIB, ADR Balears and the Regional Ministry of Business, Employment and Energy, with the aim of strengthening the connection between training, industry and innovation within the Balearic ecosystem.
Balearic Marine Cluster co-organised today’s event, “Building Talent: Innovation, Training and Business Collaboration”, held at the Centre Bit Raiguer (Inca). The session brought together dozens of companies, training centres and public institutions from across the Balearic Islands with one shared objective: to strengthen the regional strategy for attracting, developing and retaining qualified talent.
The event, organised in collaboration with CliQIB, ADR Balears and the Regional Ministry of Business, Employment and Energy, featured the active involvement of Balearic Marine Cluster, which led the content and sectoral focus of one of the key roundtables, dedicated to business talent needs.
The event was opened by the Director General of Industry and Industrial Parks, Alfons Gómez, and included an inspiring keynote by Francisco Loscos, professor at ESADE and specialist in people management.
Talent that understands the sector
Two roundtables were held throughout the morning. The first, focused on training and educational resources in the Balearics, included representatives from SOIB, FUEIB, the S’Algar Training Centre and the company Hotecma.
The second, titled “Business Talent Needs”, was moderated by Pedro Suasi, General Manager of Balearic Marine Cluster, and brought together speakers from companies such as Nautipaints, Baltic Yachts, Ecoquímic Balear and Vectobal, who shared practical insights on the challenges of talent acquisition in specialised sectors.
“Talent is not attracted by job offers alone — it is attracted through vision, purpose and commitment to training. At Balearic Marine Cluster, we work every day to support nautical companies in strengthening their teams and growing sustainably,” stated Suasi. He also added: “The cluster works actively with companies and training centres to identify real needs, design joint solutions and contribute to talent retention in our territory.”
The day also included a hands-on workshop on talent management, led by psychologist and consultant Ana Laura Martínez, aimed at helping companies apply concrete tools to improve their recruitment, development and retention processes.
A shared vision between industry, education and government
Beyond the technical content, the event was conceived as a networking and cross-sector exchange platform, encouraging new connections between businesses, training centres and public institutions.
At Balearic Marine Cluster, we especially value the opportunity to organise and take part in this type of event due to its ability to align all relevant stakeholders around a shared talent strategy — one that truly responds to the real needs of the Balearic productive fabric.
