At the Euromaritime Exhibition currently being held in Marseille, three West Med professional yachting clusters have signed a memorandum of understanding “Yachting West Med Clusters” to work together on common attractiveness issues

It is on the Riviera Yachting Network stand that, in the presence of many Italian and Spanish companies and delegations, authorities such as the Maritime Prefect of the Mediterranean, an elected representative of the Southern Region, representatives of the French International Registry, and the President of the French Maritime Cluster. Laurent Falaize, President of the Riviera Yachting Network cluster signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Katia Balducci, President of Navigo (Tuscany, Italy) and Pedro Suasi, representative of the President of Balearic Marine Cluster,  Antonio Salom.

The Western Mediterranean is the leading area for yacht sailing and refit in the world. 50% of the world’s fleet of yachts sails through this maritime area every year. Yachts come here to be “refitted”, 3/4 of yacht refits are made between our three countries and in roughly equivalent proportions from one country to another. These clusters have these two assets and Navigo also stands out by also having shipyards that build yachts (6 of the 20 largest in the world).

The outlines of the transversal collaboration signed today relate to:

  • Training to create professional training courses likely to complement our pools of skills, enriching them with cross-experiences.
  • The collective promotion of West Med as a flagship yachting destination by participating in a joint or grouped way, when it makes sense, in certain international events or even in organising them.
  • Joint European projects, innovative projects and continue to weigh more heavily on regulatory options that are sometimes retained by Europe or that lack national harmonisation.
  • Crew welcome guides or shared or shared data
  • Facilitated connections between companies in our 3 countries to collaborate.

Here are the bases of the agreement signed for 3 years of the dynamic “Yachting West Med Clusters”.

They said…

Katia Balducci, President of Navigo:

“This agreement between the three most important regions of the world for the production and refit of yachts in terms of the number and type of companies represented will provide increasingly precise data on the sector of activity, BtoB exchanges useful for the development of companies and a place for proposals and comparison of innovations and ideas.”

Laurent Falaize, President of Riviera Yachting Network:

“Being stronger together is the core philosophy of each of our clusters; it is the same one that drives our transversal Yachting West Med Clusters agreement. Indeed, while being competitors, we can share common ambitions for attractiveness and sustainable development.”

Antonio Salom, President of Balearic Marine Cluster:

“As leading clusters in their respective regions, we have identified common challenges that will weigh not only on our companies but on all industries. Over the next 10 years, companies will be confronted with major challenges such as the ecological transition, big data management and the transgenerational transition. As leading groups and with the belief that there is strength in numbers, we have signed this Memorandum of Understanding.”
