The initiative aims to gather the opinion of the sector and the public on the feasibility of a new faculty that would strengthen training and employment within the Balearic nautical industry

Balearic Marine Cluster and the Social Council of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) have launched an open survey to assess the feasibility and interest in establishing a Faculty of Nautical Studies in the Balearic Islands.

The initiative stems from the need to strengthen specialised training in a sector that is strategic for the islands’ economy, which is currently experiencing steady growth and a high demand for qualified professionals. Through this initiative, both entities aim to gather the opinions of professionals, companies, educational institutions, students, and the public to identify real training needs and assess the potential for creating a dedicated faculty.

The questionnaire is available online and can be completed in just a few minutes. The results will serve as a basis for evaluating the next steps in the process of establishing the faculty, in close collaboration with the Social Council and the relevant public administrations.

With this initiative, Balearic Marine Cluster and the Social Council of the UIB seek to engage the entire nautical community in shaping an academic project that will help consolidate higher education in nautical studies, while fostering local talent, innovation, and competitiveness in the Balearic nautical sector.
