Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC), the business initiative formed by more than 90 companies, is proud to announce its adhesion to the Clúster Marítimo Español (CME), which brings together in a single organization all the industries, services, and economic activities of the Spanish territory related to the sea.
Both entities join forces with the common goal of promoting the development and competitiveness of the nautical business and ship repair and maintenance industry in the Balearic Islands.
Premises such as the improvement of the training offer, the dissemination and development of a quality job offer in a pioneering sector, or the promotion of the sector through responsible and sustainable practices with the environment, make this union makes sense in a joint effort to promote stable and sustained growth of the industry.
The Clúster Marítimo Español seeks to improve the competitiveness of companies through cooperation, complementarity and communication, values that Balearic Marine Cluster shares and has demonstrated in the implementation of various projects and initiatives.
Since its creation in 2019, the Balearic innovative business association has experienced exponential growth, not only in the number of members, which exceeds 95 companies, but also in the development and implementation of projects, accumulating more than 100 initiatives.
Innovation and improving competitiveness are central to the Balearic Marine Cluster’s projects. One example is the development of the first Balearic marine sector report, presented at The Balearic Superyacht Forum, the first international congress on superyachts in the Balearic Islands held last May in collaboration with the specialized media The Superyacht Group.
This report highlights the importance of the sector in the archipelago, which in 2022 accounted for 3.1% of the Balearic GDP. This underlines the importance of associations such as the Balearic Marine Cluster in the development of an industry with high growth potential in the Balearic Islands.
Another significant BMC project is the creation of a competitiveness index for ship repair and maintenance companies, which aims to support companies in their quest for business excellence through the continuous improvement of their processes.
The union of the Balearic Marine Cluster with the Clúster Marítimo Español not only strengthens the competitiveness of the Balearic marine industry, but of the entire Spanish nautical fabric, promoting business synergies and knowledge transfer in the industry.
