Our Blue Startup Pitching Competition is the flagship event of The Balearic Superyacht Forum, which rewards innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship in our islands.

In this dynamic event, the five finalist startups will have the opportunity to present their business models and projects in a 5-minute elevator pitch to attendees and a jury consisting of ten experts.

The competition will take place on April 25th at 3:00 PM as part of The Balearic Superyacht Forum program

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

Startups that meet the following requirements can participate in the competition:

  • Companies registered in Spain and meeting the requirements outlined in the Ley de fomento del ecosistema de las empresas emergentes.
  • Companies whose activity, product, or service is directly related to the blue economy.
  • Have a project with high growth potential and a disruptive and interesting value proposition for potential investors.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The organization will analyze the projects and select the five finalist startups that will present their projects at The Balearic Superyacht Forum.

The five projects (obtained through the table outlined in the competition’s terms and conditions) will participate in the BLUE STARTUP PITCHING COMPETITION, while the rest will be ranked as alternates in case any of the selected projects refuse to participate.

Selected startups will be notified via email of their right to participate as soon as the organization has made its decision. In the notification itself, the organization reserves the right to request additional information/documentation.

COMPETITION DEVELOPMENT:

The competition format will be divided into the following phases:

Phase 1 – PROJECT PRESENTATION:

The five finalist companies will have the opportunity to present their project to the jury for four minutes, being able to use any type of presentation, video, image, or any other audiovisual resource deemed necessary.

Phase 2 – NON-FINANCIAL CHALLENGE PRESENTATION:

The five finalist companies will have an additional 1-minute to present their non-financial challenge for the next twelve months.

Phase 3 – QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS:

A session for comments, questions, and answers will be opened where both the jury and the audience can interact with the presenting company. The duration of this phase will be a maximum of 5 minutes.

SCORING CRITERIA:

The scoring criteria for the presentation phase will be as follows, and each will carry equal weight:

  • Business Concept: Emphasis will be placed on the disruptive nature of the idea and the significance of the problem solved or need addressed.
  • Environmental Impact: Products that can generate a positive impact on the environment will be particularly valued
  • Business Model: Projects with a defined, real, and market-tested business model that is capable of generating revenue for the company will be valued.
  • Scalability: The ability to support significant increases in demand without a proportional increase in costs will be assessed.
  • Pitch Quality: The team’s communicative and synthesis abilities, as well as the clarity of the presentation, will be evaluated.
