TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF WASTE INTO USEFUL RAW MATERIAL
PROJECT INFORMATION:
Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC) in collaboration with several companies in the sector, has undertaken an ambitious project to investigate the technical and economic feasibility of converting waste generated by associated industrial companies into useful raw material for other production processes.
The main objective of this initiative is to reduce the environmental impact of the industry and to promote more sustainable practices.
OBJECTIVES:
- To extend the useful life of waste.
- Promote the circular economy.
- To reduce the environmental impact.
- Establish a good practice guide for waste management.
- To promote the circular economy.
- Generate knowledge and awareness of the need to adopt sustainable practices.
BENEFICIARIES:
- Nautical companies.
- Society.
- Environment.
METHODOLOGY AND PARTICIPANTS:
The study has followed a comprehensive methodology, starting with the identification and quantification of the waste generated by a sample of 12 companies belonging to the Balearic Marine Cluster.
An analysis was then carried out in collaboration with the University, the Institute for Innovation and Development (IDI), Ports de les Illes Balears and several Technology Centres to assess the technical and economic feasibility of transforming this waste into useful raw material.
