Balearic Marine Cluster welcomed a delegation from Cluster Marítimo Español (CME) to Mallorca on 1 October, as part of a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between both organisations and providing the CME with first-hand insight into the business and industrial landscape of the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands.

The day began with a visit to Astilleros de Mallorca, followed by a tour of STP Shipyard Palma, two leading companies within the Balearic nautical ecosystem.

These visits gave the CME team the opportunity to learn more about the activity, capabilities and infrastructure related to yacht refit, repair and maintenance in Mallorca, while also exchanging views with industry professionals.

The agenda continued with an institutional lunch at Saltao, Club de Mar-Mallorca, attended by Guillermo García, President of Balearic Marine Cluster; Carmen Gandolfo, Managing Director of BMC; Joana Peralta, Project Manager at BMC; Javier Garat Pérez, President of the Spanish Maritime Cluster; Raquel Ibares Ortega, General Director of the CME; Alfons Gómez Rosselló, Director General for Industry and Industrial Estates; Silvia Delgado, Managing Director of ADR Balears; and Bernat Ramis, representing SOIB.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the maritime and nautical industries and to lay the foundations for further cooperation between the Balearic ecosystem and the wider Spanish maritime sector.
