This morning the first day of the Cluster’s day was held in the Parc Bit auditorium, where Pedro Suasi presented the Balearic Marine Clústerclustering process.
This event, organised by the Fundació Bit and the Dirección General de Innovación, was attended by more than seventy people and the participation of local and national business groups representing different sectors.
The day was divided into two presentations and two round tables, all moderated by Tona Pou, and among the topics discussed were the benefits of joint innovation to promote the organic growth of companies, digitalisation as a source of economy of scale, the challenges faced by companies when collaborating… and different success stories of consolidated clusters were presented.
The Cluster’s Day started at 9:15, with a welcome and presentation of the speakers and the programme by Juan Pedro Yllanes Suarez, Minister of the Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory and Vice-President of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
The first presentation was given by Genis Roca, president of RocaSalvatella, who telematically explained the importance of innovation and how clustering is a mechanism for improving the competitiveness of medium-sized companies.
The first round table, entitled “Business experiences in shared value to other Autonomous Regions”, was attended by three speakers from different clusters, three clear success stories of clustering, who shared their experiences and lines of work in the field of innovation: Tomás Iriondo, General Manager and Coordinator of the Asociación de Industrias de Conocimiento y Tecnología Aplicada de Euskadi, Gaia; Sergi Compte, Head of Innovation of the Clúster de l’Aigua de Catalunya (CWP); and Loli Pereiro, Cluster Manager of the Clúster Tecnolóxico Empresarial das Ciencias da Vida de Galicia, BIOGA.

Currently in the Balearic Islands there are only 3 AEIS constituted, 3 in the process of constitution, including Balearic Marine Cluster, and 6 potential ones.
The day concluded with a final round table, “Cluster strategies in the Balearic Islands: management, focus, strategies and application to social, environmental and economic balance”, in which Balearic Marine Cluster has taken part, where 4 clusters of the Balearic Islands were presented, explaining their trajectory and the composition of their value chain: Joan Miquel Matas, Director and Secretary General of the Clúster de la Indústria Química de les Illes Balears (CliQIB); Pedro Suasi, Cluster Manager of the Balearic Marine Clúster (BMC); Tanit Mir, Co-manager and project manager of the Clúster biotecnològic i biomèdic de les Illes Balears (BIOIB); and José Alberto Terrassa, Vice-president of Turistec.
At this table, Pedro Suasi presented the case of Balearic Marine Cluster, explaining the rapid growth of the Cluster, since its constitution in 2019, and highlighting the importance of carrying out projects that bring direct value to the members of the group, always executing them with maximum transparency and actively involving all the associated companies. He also stressed the importance of having committed companies that actively participate in the initiatives carried out by the Cluster.
