Pedro Suasi attended on behalf of the Cluster and informed the president of the Government, Margalida Prohens, that he will convey the concerns of the sector in the next meetings
Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC), has participated this Tuesday in the I Roundtable of the Nautical Sector organized by the Government of the Balearic Islands and has informed the president of the Government, Margalida Prohens, that he will convey the concerns of the nautical sector of the islands in the next meetings
Pedro Suasi, manager of Balearic Marine Cluster, has attended on behalf of the cluster and has declared that “from BMC we are very happy that this Roundtable has been launched. We like the commitment shown by all parties that there is continuity and follow-up of this Roundtable. We believe that it will be a meeting and dialogue point that will help us strengthen a sector that is increasingly important in our islands”.
“We consider that the governance of this Nautical Roundtable is essential for its proper functioning and development. For this reason, we firmly believe that progress can be made in many ways and that, if the real problems of the sector are exposed, they can be dealt with properly and action plans can be established to solve them,” he added.
Suasi also highlighted the importance of having put on the table issues such as sustainability, not only environmental, but also social and economic, as well as the training part of the sector. “This type of meeting should serve to talk about all these issues, but also to raise awareness. We must be able to convey that we live in a finite territory such as islands and that we must navigate with respect for the sea. At the Balearic Marine Cluster we consider that the issue of awareness is indisputable. It is also important to see how coexistence between actors in the same sector is managed, such as, for example, coexistence between the charter sector or traditional nautical.”
The Nautical Roundtable is a body for consultation, debate and advice on nautical matters, which is responsible for advising, counselling and making recommendations to the Government of the Balearic Islands in relation to the matter. According to the Government, the intention is to hold a minimum of two meetings a year, but the possibility of holding more meetings when there are important issues to discuss remains open.
The Balearic Marine Cluster considers that the periodicity of this Roundtable is essential to understand the interests and challenges facing the nautical sector of the Islands and hopes that the real problems facing the nautical sector in our islands can be addressed effectively and efficiently.
