Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC) participated in the 16th edition of YARE – Yachting Aftersales & Refit Experience, held in Viareggio (Italy), one of the leading international events dedicated to refit and aftersales services for superyachts.

The event brought together more than 100 international superyacht captains and around 150 companies from the sector, consolidating itself as one of the main meeting points between captains, shipyards, marinas and specialised suppliers within the yachting industry.

Over the three-day programme, more than 2,600 B2C meetings were held between companies and captains, alongside professional forums, visits to shipyards in the Tuscan nautical district, and various discussion spaces focused on the present and future of the sector.

In this context, Balearic Marine Cluster was present at the event, where seven associated companies from the Balearic nautical sector also participated: Astilleros de Mallorca, Estela Shipping, IGY, IPM, JJCovers, Ocibar, Omniaccess and Lantimar.

Debate on the future of the Mediterranean

During the event, Pedro Suasi, manager of Balearic Marine Cluster, took part in the panel “The Big Med Debate”, a discussion forum that brought together industry representatives, marina managers and associations to analyse the evolution of the superyacht industry in the Mediterranean.

The debate addressed several strategic topics for the sector, including Spain’s position as a refit destination, the entry of capital and investment into the yachting industry, and the importance of improving the sector’s narrative to better connect with society and highlight its economic and social impact.

The need to strengthen collaboration between different Mediterranean yachting hubs was also highlighted, promoting initiatives that encourage knowledge exchange and joint work between destinations and organisations within the sector.

In this regard, Balearic Marine Cluster highlighted the role of initiatives such as the Mediterranean Superyacht Forum, promoted from the Balearic Islands, as a platform to foster dialogue and cooperation among key stakeholders in the Mediterranean yachting industry.

Connecting with the international refit community

Participation in YARE enables Balearic Marine Cluster to continue strengthening its connection with the international community of captains and refit professionals, while also showcasing the capabilities of the Balearic Islands’ nautical ecosystem.

The Balearic Islands have consolidated their position as one of the leading refit destinations in the Mediterranean, thanks to the presence of shipyards, specialised companies and technical services capable of handling maintenance, repair and modernisation projects for superyachts.

Through its participation in international events such as YARE, Balearic Marine Cluster continues to work towards enhancing the visibility of the Balearic nautical sector and fostering collaboration with other Mediterranean destinations and organisations.
