Last 16th Friday, was held the presentation of the Balearic Marine Hub Platform: the website that promotes sustainable and quality yachting in the Balearic Islands.
The Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca and Balearic Marine Clúster have presented the new digital platform balearicmarine.org, the most complete nautical guide of the sector, which brings together relevant information for workers, businesses and lovers of sailing. The event took place last Friday 16th, at 12:00 am, in front of the main companies and institutions, at the Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca.
This free-use page, was born during the second edition of the virtual fair Balearic Yacht Show in 2021, and after almost a year of development, Balearic Marine Hub was presented in small committee to several companies in the sector during the Palma International Boat Show in April 2022.
Among the many applications available on the website, the digital nautical guide provides updated and real-time information on anchoring conditions in our islands (weather forecast, state of posidonia, type of anchorage and draft, etc.). In addition, each of the 200 coves that make up this guide, has a posidonia map to raise awareness of its protection and promote responsible anchoring.
This map has been developed in collaboration with the Balearic Institute of Nature (IBANAT) and is a map of posidonia obtained by integrating into Google maps different layers of posidonia in the regions where this plant is found, thus obtaining a map of the area where anchoring is allowed.
Another of the functions offered by the platform is a job portal with offers in the nautical sector of the islands(administrative, carpenters, engineers, etc.) working together with the Balearic Islands Employment Service (SOIB), the first of its kind in the Balearic Islands.
Information and news of the sector, online events, conferences and trainings can also be consulted on the website.
Continuing with the objective of nurturing the business network and respond to the needs of personnel of the companies in the sector, all nautical training is collected on this page, from vocational training to accreditation of professional skills or qualifications specific to the recreational boating.
The president of the Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca, Eduardo Soriano, highlighted the importance of the project as “a formidable tool for locating all the information of interest to the sector in a single website“. Soriano took the opportunity to encourage those present to make their own contributions in order to “make the platform grow“.
For his part, the president of Balearic Marine Cluster, Toni Salom, has highlighted that the event has been a success and that the institutional presence has been unbeatable. Emphasizing the importance of a joint collaboration of companies and institutions.
